The children in the Junior Room have been learning all about line in drawing this month. We explored different types of lines; straight, bumpy, sharp and diagonal. The children created some very scary monsters using different types of lines.

Autumn is the time for planting bulbs! We planted tulip bulbs and daffodil bulbs. We used bulb planters and garden trowels to plant the bulbs. It’s very important to plant the bulbs the right way up!

In our shrub boxes we planted some new shrubs: skimmia, hebe, euonymous and heather. We added some colour to our main entrance with some violas in the pots on either side. We were very busy in October!

Senior pupils participated in The Billis NS Photography competition. The theme was “Autumn”. We had great fun taking our Autumn photos. As you can see Monaghan is a beautiful place to live, especially in Autumn!

During Maths Week the senior pupils went outside and completed a Maths Trail in our school grounds. We also did Maths games in our classroom.

The children in the Junior room created costumes for puppets in art this month. We used lots of different types of materials to create these fun costumes.

After the summer we tidied up our school garden. We pulled weeds, so many weeds! Next, we dug up the soil in our vegetable and shrub boxes to make it easier to work with. We added top soil to the boxes as well as compost which enriches the soil for the plants and shrubs. We used peat-free compost as this is better for our boglands.
