The Junior Classroom baked and decorated Chocolate Rice Krispie Buns and Top Hats for The Billis Bake Off!

We loved dressing up to perform our Christmas Nativity Play called ‘Mary’s Knitting’. We hope you liked our costumes!

During Science Week we made bi-ped robots. We had to follow the instructions very carefully and in the correct order!

Our robots could walk on our desks. We had to do some adjustments as some of our robots were going backways!

The robots used batteries to power the motors which enabled the robots to walk.

We have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians. We made some clay models of canopic jars. The Ancient Egyptians put internal body parts in canopic jars as part of the mummification of their pharaohs. Gruesome!

The children in the Junior Room have been learning all about line in drawing this month. We explored different types of lines; straight, bumpy, sharp and diagonal. The children created some very scary monsters using different types of lines.

Autumn is the time for planting bulbs! We planted tulip bulbs and daffodil bulbs. We used bulb planters and garden trowels to plant the bulbs. It’s very important to plant the bulbs the right way up!

In our shrub boxes we planted some new shrubs: skimmia, hebe, euonymous and heather. We added some colour to our main entrance with some violas in the pots on either side. We were very busy in October!

Senior pupils participated in The Billis NS Photography competition. The theme was “Autumn”. We had great fun taking our Autumn photos. As you can see Monaghan is a beautiful place to live, especially in Autumn!

During Maths Week the senior pupils went outside and completed a Maths Trail in our school grounds. We also did Maths games in our classroom.

The children in the Junior Room have been learning all about autumn. We planted crocus bulbs for spring.

The Junior Room had lots of fun working with maths games during Maths Week.
