Children are not allowed to administer medicines themselves. Parents must send a note with a child requiring occasional medication during the day e.g. Calpol, stating when the medicine is to be administered and the quantity to be given. The teacher will then dispense the stated dosage at the given time in the presence of another adult. Where a child requires long-term medication an arrangement must be made with the Board of Management.

Please note that a written request to administer medicine must be received by the teacher – a phone call will not suffice.

The details of the medication given will be recorded and signed by the teacher administering the medicine.
