On Wednesday 22nd June, we had a Jammie Day in the Junior Classroom. We all wore our pyjamas to school and brought in our favourite teddies and bedtime stories. We then showed eachother and talked about our favourites. We had great fun!

In the Junior Classroom, we made cards to take home and give our Dad’s on Fathers Day!

The emigrants used wood to make their houses, fences and barns. Life was very different for them in America.

We were shocked at the terrible conditions onboard for the people emigrating on these ‘coffin ships’.

This house was taken, stone by stone, from Co Monaghan and rebuilt in the park. A son from this house emigrated to America and eventually became the Catholic Archbishop of New York!

The poorest people lived in these houses during famine times in Ireland.

We pulled the bellows and the blacksmith worked with the iron, hammering it on the anvil. He made a poker for the fire and gave it to us to bring back to school!
